Forehead Lift
Procedure
A forehead lift is often performed to treat conditions associated with the
aging process. It will minimize forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over
eyes, furrowed forehead, and frown lines by removing excess tissue and
re-draping skin. Correction could be made through open approach or endoscopic
techniques. The open procedure could be made through coronal or temporal
approach. The incision by your surgeon is designed to be inconspicuous when
healed. Through the incision made your surgeon can remove parts of your
muscle that are causing wrinkling and frown lines, remove excess skin, and
lift your eyebrows to a more pleasing level.
Length of Procedure
This procedure usually last 1 to 2 hours depending on the extent of the
surgery.
Type of Anesthesia
This procedure is usually done under local anesthesia with sedation, on an
outpatient basis.
Side Effects
You will notice some temporary puffiness and discoloration that may involve
the eyelid and cheek area. In most cases bruising and swelling is resolved
within the first couple of weeks. You will experience numbness and headaches,
which also will subside in a couple of weeks. The headaches and any pain can
be controlled by prescription medication. You will also experience some
itching of the scalp as the nerves begin to heal.
